Exceptional Eglomise Zodiac Cocktail Table by Harriton

One of a kind art deco cocktail or coffee table by David Harriton for Harriton Carved Glass of New York, Circa 1940. The smoked mirror top features a beautiful gold eglomise Zodiac pattern reverse carved into the glass by sandblasting, a process unique to the Harriton Carved Glass company. The exquisitely designed wood table base features delicate Asian inspired cabriole legs finished in black lacquer with a light spatterings of gold leaf, reminiscent of the designs of James Mont. Etched on top of glass “Harriton Carved Glass N.Y.C.” Harriton Carved Glass was based on 34th Street in New York City from the early 1920s through 1962 and founded by David Harriton. Harriton Carved Glass created some of the most significant pieces of Architectural glass of the 20th Century. Such significant works include the decorative glass domes in the United States House and Senate in Washington, DC, “The Puddler”, a 27 foot iconic art deco glass mural located at the front entry of the former Spear & Company building in Pittsburg, PA as well as interior elgomise panels in the tavern car of the California Zephyr, a Chicago to Northern California luxury passenger train.
